June 2005 - Brand Leader Corby Moves Manufacturing to North East
The north east has been given a boost with the announcement that two of the Country's leading electrical appliance manufacturers have joined forces, in a move that will create new jobs for the region.
John Corby Limited, the world leader in trouser press manufacture, moved its manufacturing base to Peterlee in June to merge operations with its sister Company, the north east manufacturer, Suncrest Surrounds Limited.
The Corby brand has an established pedigree which goes back to 1930. Corby trouser presses can today be purchased in stores such as John Lewis and Argos and are a popular guest amenity in hotels throughout the world. Many people first experience the benefit of a Corby in a hotel and decide to purchase for use at home.
